For my second bird quilt in the spring of 2021, I decided to create a wall hanging to celebrate Her arrival. This piece was larger and more complex than the Easter chick. As usual, I didn’t take the easy route. The intricately patterned wings, head, and back of the Golden Plover proved quite challenging, but once again, I loved every moment of it.
The background of this piece was inspired by the original photograph. Since I didn’t have enough fabric, I decided to paint some myself, and the results, if I may say so, turned out rather well. Several squares in the background were hand-painted by me.
