Christmas Quilts

In December 2020 I bought a quilt kit from Laura Heine
It is a Snow globe quilt and I love it. I love all her patterns so much.

The kit included complete instruction to create one of a kind quilt as well as full sized sillouettes. The you use Steam-a-seam 2 on the back of the fabric and puzzle the quilt top together piece by piece. It consists of both solid items cut out of fabric, like houses and trees and figurines and small items that are cut out of patterned fabrics.
It was a very fun process to cut all those little things out in the autumn and then using them in the quilt.
Here you can see the final outcome.

I love this quilt very much and it hanged in our living room for few Christmases. But my neurodiversity makes my brain a little different and I am never completely happy when I follow a pattern exactly.
Therefore I started to draw my own pattern based on this one with a winter scene from my childhood home Hrísey.
I incorporated my parents house, the house next door where they ran a Bed and Breakfast for a few years, my sisters house and the Church.

I like to edit my pictures in the design process to black and white to make it easier to see where the empty arias are.

Now this is our Christmas quilt that hangs in our living room each Christmas since 2022. Maybe I will make another one day. I will be sure to share it here with you if I do.
